Salmon Fishing With Valley Guide Service

A couple of Salmon "hooked up" on the Feather River

Giant Kings of the Fall

July - September

Welcome to some of the finest sport fishing in the lower 48. The beginning of the Fall King Salmon run on the Sacramento and Feather begins in mid to late July. Thousands of chrome bright Salmon enter the Feather and Sacramento Rivers on their quest to spawn. Back bouncing Salmon roe and back trolling plugs is two of the techniques we use to hook these monsters. Fish over forty pounds are caught every year and thirty-pound fish are a common occurrence on these two rivers. Limits to near limits are the rule, rather than the exception.  The annual migrations on the Feather and Sacramento rivers are very strong with  excellent hatchery programs as well as returning wild fish.  Tackle consists of conventional reels built by Shimano  and Loomis Back Bouncing rods. Hooking, fighting and landing one of these great fish in such proximity to major metropolitan areas is a true gift. Forty-five minutes north of Sacramento puts you on some of the best Salmon water in the country. Being based near each of these premier waters enables us to relocate wherever the hottest action is.

 Klamath River Kings

September - October

Beautiful canyon walls, pristine sand bars, Bald Eagles, Osprey, Black Bears and massive numbers of King Salmon and Steelhead. What else can you say about the Klamath? This river counts its annual salmon returns in hundreds of thousands. Runs in excess of half a million fish have produced some of the finest Salmon and Steelhead fishing in the world. Twenty fish days are the norm with thirty to forty fish per day  hooked on several occasions every year. . The average fish is 6 - 12LBS. with enough fish in the high teens to twenty plus pounds to keep things exciting. We fish the lower twenty miles of the river, which ensures ocean bright hard fighting fish only hours from the salt. Drift fishing or "Boondogging" is the technique employed here. Light action Loomis spinning rods fitted with quality Shimano reels spooled with ten pound Line and baited with fresh Salmon roe is the preferred set-up. A jet boat ride up this beautiful river is an unforgettable experience. Combine this with the great fishing and you have a five star angling adventure.
